ABSTRACT

Cybercrime is defined as any illegal conduct that targets or makes use of a computer, computer network, or networked device. Hackers or cybercriminals are responsible for the majority of cybercrimes, who are looking to earn money. But sometimes, the primary goal of cybercrime is to harm networks or computers for purposes other than financial gain. The constant advancement of technology in today's society has led to a sharp rise in cybercrime and hacker activity. According to the report, cybercrime is thought to be the sector of crime with the quickest rate of growth.

Cybercrime used to be committed by a lot of small groups or individuals, but these days it's a place where professional and organized hackers, kids and teenagers between the ages of 6 and 18, scammers, phishes, insiders, malware authors, spammers, and others can make money. A few of the frequent cybercrimes that occur in India include credit card fraud, bank robberies, illegal downloads, industrial espionage, child pornography, kidnappings through chat rooms, scams, cyber terrorism, the development and/or dissemination of different viruses, spam, and more. Since we live in a digital age, cyberspace is not merely confined to one's borders; rather, it encompasses the entire planet. Because of this, cybercrime is sharply rising throughout the world, especially in India. Cybercrime's dynamic nature, which stems from the continuous advancement of digital technology, is its greatest obstacle. The threat of cybercrime rises in tandem with the growth of the digital ecosystem. The foundation of the legal framework in India for preventing cybercrime and advancing cyber security is the Information Technology Act, 2000. India can effectively combat cybercrime and provide a safer digital environment for its population by combining strong legislation, technology improvements, and public awareness. Due to the emergence of several new cybercrime tactics, it is imperative that cyber laws be updated and strengthened on a regular basis in order to keep up with the constantly changing nature of cyber threats.
