ABSTRACT
Focused on literature, case studies, and judicial analysis the researcher plans on exploring the efficacy of affirmative action as a method of remediating extant economic stagnation endemic in groups. The researcher believes that understanding an issue that is extremely politically charged, and with that comes propaganda that seeks to constrain the issue into monosyllabic and univariate terms is quite relevant though it is extremely problematic as the issue of the day is ultimately the betterment of people and not blind promises that would if left unchecked, lead to disastrous results as evidenced by most countries that have flirted with communism. I draw that comparison not to demonize any apparent position on the issue of affirmative action but merely to point out that blind belief doesn't lead to a stable and sustainable economic system, and it is my sincere hope that I can gain a better understanding of the issue with generous guidance of my guide. I have gone through many articles whose references are given in appropriate places to understand the topic deeply and incorporated my own interpretation along with the opinions of scholars and analysed various important judicial decisions as well. It is well known that Indian society is diverse in terms of culture, ethnicity, religion, and language, still it carries a centuries-old stigma of caste discrimination whereby creating a hierarchical relationship among the communities belonging to different castes with social inequality at its base. This ideation of the notion of inequality brought to the fore the need for the accomplishment of social justice.
