Administration Of Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India (TRAI)

ABSTRACT

The legislative comment makes a humble attempt to study the telecom regulatory authority of India as a regulating body, with the help of the rule and regulations laid down in the TRAI ACT 1977 and the TRAI Amendment act 2000. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) was created in the onrush of such agency following the paradigm shift from India socialism to business liberalism and globalization in 1991. The study of its functioning sources it to be less then adequately autonomous and less then sufficiently overseen by the parliament and its committee system. The telecom space can be seen as the new frontier to the explored and harnessed in expanding and deepening democracy. The existing structure of TRAI falls shift on the parameters of transparency, efficiency, autonomy and accountability, calling for reforms.
