Abortion Laws In India, The US And The UK

Rithik Gullaiya, Symbiosis Law School, Noida

ABSTRACT

Over the past decade, some key policy developments have contributed to improved availability, accessibility and safety of induced abortion services. The term abortion means termination of pregnancy before the foetus is viable. The fight has always been between pro-life and pro-choice, but the debate will be senseless if the physical and mental well-being of a woman is not taken into consideration. This study examines different rules and laws regarding abortion in India, the USA and the UK. Further, a comparative study has been done between the three countries. Lastly, concluding remarks and some suggestions have also been given by the author so that the social, mental and physical stigma faced by a woman is also considered and removed so that women have access to safe and legal abortion.
