ABSTRACT
Agriculture is one of the largest sectors providing employment and plays a very significant role in promoting socio economic development. However, this sector reeling under crises in India in general and Maharashtra in particular. For a very long time, Vidarbha has lagged the rest of Maharashtra in terms of development. The Central and State governments have established numerous committees over time to address the concerns of underdevelopment, but the region has not seen any commendable improvement. This study examines the causes and consequences and also emphasizes how poorly the government has been able to tailor its programmes in these areas.
