ABSTRACT

There are various Data-security threats in the contemporary world. One such threat is Phishing, wherein the act entails tricking a user into giving the attacker private and sensitive information. It targets bank account information, credit card information, usernames, and passwords among other things. Phishing attacks take the form of malicious emails, texts, and phone calls. Once the attacker has the information, they can steal identities commonly known as Identity theft and cause financial damages, among other crimes. This article provides a fair description of phishing assaults, including the many types of phishing attempts, how they are carried out, and how to identify, prevent them and the legal remedies that follows.
