ABSTRACT

The right to privacy has been a controversial issue since a period of time due to the media concerns related to it. This right doesn't have an independent statute in India and may be a deemed right under the constitution of India. it's understood in context with the proper to life under article 21 and right to freedom under article 19. Right to privacy isn't enumerated as a fundamental right within the constitution and is inherent the elemental right to life and liberty guaranteed by Article 21 of the Constitution. Recently concerns over balancing the proper to information with the proper to privacy are raised, especially, by controversies just like the Radia-tapes. The proper privacy is our right to stay on a website around us, which incorporates all those things that are a part of us, like our body, home, thoughts, feelings, secrets and identity. Proper privacy gives us the power to settle on which parts during this domain are often accessed by others, and to regulate the extent, manner and timing of the utilization of these parts we elect to disclose. This study aims to examine the necessity of right to privacy especially in social media. For the purpose of this research, 250 responses were collected from the general public in Tamil Nadu. Chi-square and frequency charts were used for this research.
