ABSTRACT:
The study on the role of parents in supporting transgender children in India aims to shed light on the experiences, challenges, and impacts of parental involvement in the lives of transgender youth. In the Indian context, where societal attitudes towards gender and sexuality can be complex and diverse, understanding the role of parents becomes crucial in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for transgender children. Transgender children, who identify with a gender different from their assigned sex at birth, often face unique challenges such as social stigma, discrimination, and lack of acceptance from their families, peers, and society. The influence of parents in supporting and affirming their transgender children's identities plays a crucial role in their overall well-being and development. Parents play a crucial role in the lives of transgender children, as they are often the first line of support and guidance. Their attitudes, behaviors, and actions can significantly influence their child's self-esteem, mental health, and overall sense of belonging. The research methodology involved here is empirical research and sampling method used here is convenient sampling The objective of the study is to To examine the challenges faced by the parents of transgender children. To investigate the impact of parental acceptance and support, To identify barriers and facilitators to parental support for transgender children within the Indian cultural context. The independent variables are gender, age, occupation, educational qualification. The dependent variables are the problems faced by transgender children. Acceptance and support from family is a major problem faced by trans child parents who play a significant role in the lives of transgender children. The aim of the research is to find the problem faced by the parents of transgender children.
