1. INTRODUCTION
Human Trafficking has been a major concern from around 1956 when human trafficking became illegal and Immoral Traffic in Women and Child Act (SITA), 19561. Even after more than 60 years of the introduction of this act the issue of Human Trafficking has not been solved and India has not reached the goals it desired.
United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime of November 2000 was signed by India in 2002 and ratified and approved in 2011. Even after signing the convention India has faced recent increase in Trafficking in Humans due to the COVID-19 virus and its consequential lockdown period as well as various other aspects which would be discussed in detail in this paper.
The report will further look into few of the major reasons for increase in Human Trafficking in India as it is of importance that the issue of Trafficking in Humans has been addressed as many lives have been on stake because of these organized crimes. As it is clear that human trafficking is a worldwide problem which is a very shameful crime one can commit and this requires awareness, public systems which would detect human trafficking easily and government to act on it fast. This research paper, with the help of journals, articles, reports, and books, and will critically analyze the Statutes and legal issues with regards to Human Trafficking.
