ABSTRACT

Witness protection schemes are integral to the functioning of modern criminal justice systems. This research paper provides an in-depth examination of witness protection programs, encompassing their historical evolution, legal foundations, operational intricacies, challenges, and impact on the criminal justice system.

The historical evolution section traces the development of witness protection from its origins, highlighting significant milestones that have shaped its evolution. The legal framework analysis delves into the laws, regulations, and international agreements that govern witness protection, emphasizing the rights of witnesses and the responsibilities of law enforcement agencies.
