Menaka R, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai

ABSTRACT

The integration of e-courts main elements and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed judicial systems in both India and the United States. In India, AI technologies such as SUVAS and SUPASE have streamlined case management by enhancing speech-to-text and evidence processing capabilities. People in India do not need to pay for accessing E- court materials, whereas in U.S., only researchers are exempt from purchasing e-court reports; otherwise, everyone must pay for the reports when they wish to access them. In U.S., AI systems like, COMPAS is used for risk management in criminal cases, utilizing algorithms to assess recidivism risks and aid in sentencing. The U.S. legal system also navigates constitutional concerns, particularly with the First and Fourth Amendments, as they relate to AI’s role. The paper deals with an overall comparative study of e-court case management between India and the United States of America.
