ABSTRACT
Reservation acts as a very implicit tool in the hands of the government for the improvement in the condition of socially and economically indigent sections of society. The Constitution of India grants us six Fundamental Rights and the first such right is the Right to Equality which clearly states that there should be equality among the citizens of this country and more importantly there should be equality among equals. In contemporary times a reservation policy based on economic conditions rather than social conditions, intra vires, caste, etc is very much in need. That reservation policy is needed for every section of the society immaterial of caste, creed, religion, etc. It is a fact that our society is many a times fabricated by the political leaders with an intent to deceive the citizens on racial grounds. People who, till now, lived in the in absentia of the caste-based reservation and are below the poverty line as well would gain from this reservation policy which would ultimately act as a foundation in the process of eradication of poverty.
